LHC Group
Our Story

The company that would come to be known as LHC Group officially began operations in September of 1994 as St. Landry Home Health, Inc. in Palmetto, a sleepy little town in northern St. Landry Parish, nestled in the heart of Louisiana. Nurtured by a sound, clinically driven business model, that single home health agency grew into LHC Group, which now employs mor e than 4000 skilled employees throughout their locations in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, West Virginia, Kentucky, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Ohio and Missouri.

This growth may seem a mystery to some, but to those here at LHC Group, it is seen as nothing less than a natural result of the sustained work ethic and values we have worked and continue to work so hard to instill and perpetuate within our organization. We not only insist that our employees adopt a philosophy of excellence in providing patient care, we make that option accessible to them by controlling non-patient care expenses, which has allowed us to provide more patient visits than our competitors, as well as focus on what is really important, the needs of the patient.

Any architect will tell you that the strength of any structure resides primarily within the foundation and the framework, LHC Group is no different. LHC Group has been blessed over the years with many talented and capable professionals willing to lend their unique talents and years of industry experience to the good of the organization as a whole. The base for this dedication is a carefully constructed trust between the employee and the employer. LHC Group has always been dedicated to establishing this level of trust with each employee within the organization in order to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between LHC Group and the individual employee and, of course, to ultimately minimize turnover and improve our level of patient care.

Today, LHC Group offers a variety of services including home health care, hospice, Lifeline, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation, long-term acute care, private duty nursing, diabetes self-management, and wound care. These services are provided by a trained staff of nurses, physicians, therapists, and aides who realize the importance of and work diligently to implement the corporate mission; the foundation of which involves simply “….to provide care in the least restrictive, most cost effective and appropriate environment possible.”
